WHAT IS NAD THERAPY
NAD occurs naturally in the body. It is considered an important oxidase reducer in doing so, it helps with cell nuclear DNA repair and telomere maintenance. NAD+ or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a natural coenzyme of vitamin B3 (niacin) that is present in every cell in your body. Infuisiom therapy may boost your overall health and energy level.
NAD and NAD+ both occur naturally in the body. They play a major role in the chemical process of generating energy. NAD+ is considered one of the most important co-factor for improving mitochondrial function. Mitochondria are found within the cells of your body and are the “energy powerhouses” where macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, and fats from food) are converted to energy-rich ATP molecules for the cell. Think of NAD+ as a fuel for metabolic reactions that drives your cells to metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and amino acids.
HISTORY OF NAD+
Has been used since the late 1960s in intravenous form to significantly lessen withdrawal from a variety of drugs and alcohol. Mechanism not clear. Limitation is that recovery tends not to be complete with IV NAD alone. With addition of specified amino acids complex, recovery is found to be significantly more profound, complete and lasting
HOW DOES NAD+ WORK
NAD+ therapy involves infusing a high dose of the compound straight into your bloodstream. Your benefits from NAD more quickly than you might with other delivery systems, such as the oral route, so you experience a faster, more effective treatment outcome. NAD+ therapy optimizes your own cells’ NAD levels so they rev up and provide you with more immediate energy.
Several recognized non-redox roles:
- Important in cell nuclear DNA repair and telomere maintenanceˡ
Extracellular signaling molecule:
- From neurons in blood vessels, urinary bladder, large intestine
- Transcription regulation and aging via sirtuins
- Released from neurosecretory cells and brain synaptosomes
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF NAD+
Boosting NAD+ may help manage a wide spectrum of diseases, ranging from diabetes to cancer. When NAD+ is given by IV (intravenous), several studies have shown it can improve mental clarity, alertness, concentration, and memory. Moreover, NAD+ infusions may improve athletic performance overall, endurance, recovery and reverse the symptoms of chronic fatigue. NAD+ therapy may also fight the physical effects of aging, lower depression and anxiety, boost energy, combat chronic fatigue and sleep disturbances, and help relieve you of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Several studies have shown there may be a multitude of benefits from administration of NAD including helping with disease management.
Benefits may include:
- Boot athletic performance
- Optimize athletic endurance
- Improve mental clarity
- Boost alertness, memory and concentration
- Optimize metabolism of fat and carbohydrates
- Boost energy
- Reduce fatigue
- Promote sleep
- Reduce inflammation
- Reduce effects of aging
- Reduce depression
May help lower symptoms of disease
- Autoimmune
- Alzheimers
- Diabetes
- Cancer cell modification
WHAT ARE THE NAD+ TREATMENT GUIDELINES
There are several treatment guide lines depending on the amount of NAD being infused and the reason for administration. Infusions rage from 250 mg to 2000 mg per day and 1.5 hrs to well over 8 hours of infusion time. Additional components are typically added such as Myers' cocktail, glutathione, B12 and others. Here are some general guidelines of simple NAD without any additonal compos.
Addiction Treatment Guidelines
- Inherently safe at doses of 2 gms/day or less.
- Generally give 800 to 1800 mg per day, over 3-8 hours.
- Treatment for 7-16 days, depending on drug history
Anti-aging Treatment Guidelines
- 1.5 - 2 hour infusion of 250 mg NAD utilizing a minimum of 500 ml of Normal Saline
Neurogenerative & Athletic PerformanceTreatment Guidelines
- 2 - 4 hours infusion of 500mg of NAD infusion utilizing minimum 500 mls of Normal Saline
