SS-31 - Elamipretide

LONGEVITY BIO-REGULATING PEPTIDE

Peptides have changed the way we think about regenerative medicine and how we optimize health and slow down the aging process. Finding the right provider to lead you to success has never been more important. At PRAMAH, we guide you every step of the way.

Be Your Best; Outperform The Rest

Today, peptides can be used alone or in combination with other peptides (stacks). They have proven to drive up energy, repair injuries, optimize the immune system and increase cognition. We believe in the craft of medicine and the building of relationships. When you succeed, so do we.

WHAT IS SS-31 (ELAMIPRETIDE)

SS-31 (ELAMIPRETIDE) is also known as Bendavia or MPT-141. It is a synthetic tetrapeptide (i.e. 4 amino acids long) that was discovered by scientists Hazel H. Szeto and Peter W. Schiller in the early 2000s. This is why it is more commonly known as a Szeto-Schiller (SS) peptide.

SS-31 (ELAMIPRETIDE) is very unique in its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and highly concentrate within the inner membrane of the mitochondria (IMM).

SS-31 shows promise in the treatment of many neurodegenerative and cognitive disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer’s, Friedreich ataxia, traumatic brain injury and glaucoma.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SS-31 (ELAMIPRETIDE)

There have been over 130 studies published since 2005 on the benefits of SS-1 (ELAMIPRETIDE).
One of the bigs things about SS-1 is that is has been shown to reduce cognitive dysfunction thus used in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome. Other potential benefits of SS-31 having this effect may include inhibition of neuronal cell death, increase synaptic activity ad lower beta-amyloid formation (the key contributing factor to the cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease.
Benefits may include:
  • Reverse cognitive dysfunction
  • increase exercise endurance and performance like MOTCS-C
  • normalize blood sugars in type II diabetics
  • protective against spinal cord injuries
  • decrease inflammation ie cytokine activity
  • protect the liver from ischemic reperfusion
  • neuroprotective in diseases like Parkinson's

SS-1 (ELAMIPRETIDE) shown to be plausible treatment in:

  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Skeletal Muscle Weakness
  • Alzheimer's Disease
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetes
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Heart Failure with Ischemia-Reperfusion
  • Kidney Fibrosis
  • Friedreich ataxia

HOW DOES SS-31 (ELAMIPRETIDE) WORK

Mitochondria play a vital role in cellular metabolism. Because of their widespread effects on cellular functions, mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in a wide range of diseases.

SS-31 has been shown to reverse mitochondrial dysfunction by obliterating damaging inflammatory agents such as free radical oxygen species (ROS).

SS-1 (ELAMIPRETIDE) function in the body revolve its relationship with a lipid molecule located in the inner mitochondrial member (IMM) known as Cardiolipin. By binding to cardiolipin, SS-1 prevents the accumulation of free radicals thereby acting as a potent antioxidant; it reduces apoptosis, prevents the malfunctioning of mitochondria.

WHAT IS THE DOSAGE OF SS-31 (ELAMIPRETIDE)

There is limited data on proper dosing and protocol of administration for SS-1(ELAMIPRETIDE).

SS-1 (ELAMIPRETIDE) is supplied in 50 mg per ml in a 6 ml vial (300 mg per vial)

Suggested dosing is:

Intravenous Infusion: 0.01 mg/kg/h – 0.25 mg/kg/h over 4 hours via intravenous infusion

Subcutaneous daily injections range from 4 or 40 mg injected once a day. The Recommended dose is 20 units (0.2.ml) or 10 mg per day

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF SS-31 (ELAMIPRETIDE)

SS-1 (ELAMIPRETIDE) has little to no side effects.

Most common side effect is:

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Mild redness/swelling at the site of injection
