NATURAL VITAMIN B12

WHAT IS THE DOSE OF METHYLCOBALAMINE
It is important to make a distinction that at PRAMAH we primarily use the more bioavailable of B12 – methycobalamine which for better understanding is more potent. Dosage also varies depending reason of administration ie vitamin B12 deficiency vs weight loss.
A typical recommendation for weight loss is 5,000 mcg 1-2 times per week
WHY IS VITAMIN B12 IMPORTANT
Vitamin B12 serves many purposes but most importantly are the processes within your nerve cells and is critical in red blood cell formation. As you can imagine this can have a significant impact to your energy levels as well as memory function.
Much like certain amino acids, B12 is not produced through the body and must be obtained through diet or supplements.
Supplementation is incredibly important to those who have or are at greater risk for B12 deficiency. Patients with this difficulty include but are not limited to: those with gastrointestinal disease (i.e. Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis), those who have undergone gastric surgery, patients with diabetes or others who take metformin, those who use proton pump inhibitors and even sometimes with those who follow a vegan diet.

METHYLCOBALAMINE vs CYANOBOBALAMINE
In order of potency or bioavailability (ability of the body to breakdown and use a substance) Cyanocobalaimine would be less potent than Hydroxycobalamine. Cyanocobalamine has a cyanide molecule that the body must break before it can be further broken down and then used by your body. Hydroxycobalamine on the other hand is an intermediate B12. It is more stable than Methycobalamine when mixed with other products but is not as bioavailable or potent as Methylcobalamine.
This B12 product contains methylcobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin. Methylcobalamin is the most effective form of B12 and can be used by the body at significantly lower doses than the popular alternative. Methylcobalamin is also naturally occurring and has much more bioavailability than cyanocobalamin, this makes it easier for the body to use for energy and metabolism.
